Saying I love you doesn’t have to be hard when you style a Valentine’s Day bar cart with all of the sweetness of the holiday. Here we will highlight 7 tips on how to stage your cart so it’s beautifully dressed and ready for your the festivities.
This post is all about a Valentine’s Day bar cart. It contains Amazon affiliate links, meaning, I might receive a small commission, but, at no cost to you.
Include a Floral Bouquet
Being a former Thrifty Florist employee, I know how busy flower shops can be around Valentine’s Day. It’s no surprise that flowers go hand in hand with this Hallmark holiday. Adding some pretty blooms to your bar cart canvas will give it just the right touch of life, texture, and love. I feel like flowers and love go hand in hand. 🌹💕
Choose a vase, bowl, or dish that coordinates with your color scheme so that everything flows well together. Display it where your cart needs either some height or, if it’s a shorter arrangement, some depth.
When it comes to floral arranging, remove the leaves from the bottom of the stems before placing them in your vase. This keeps the arrangement looking clean and not cluttered.
Peel any rose petals that might have brown edges. This typically happens to the petals on the outside of the flower. Don’t worry, you won’t harm the flower when you do this.
Add Height and Layers
Here are some beautiful Amazon options to help you add layers to your bar cart.
Include Sweet Treats
A family tradition of ours is to make chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day. To make them extra fancy, I added a few sprinkles when the chocolate was wet, to put a little glam on their coating. 💖
Did you know you can use all sorts of delicious melted chocolates to cover fruit, such as strawberries, and it doesn’t have to be loaded with sugar? If you have never tried Lily’s chocolates, these yummies are amazingly good!
The Lily’s brand is pretty much a staple chocolate name in our home. My kids take these treats to school in their lunches (less sugar when learning); we drizzle their melted chocolate over fruit; and we munch on their chocolate chips as a peanut butter topping. It tastes just like sugar-sweetened chocolate candy, minus the guilt, sugar buzz, and calories.
Lily’s chocolates are sweetened with stevia so there are no added sugars. From salted almond to salted caramel cocoa bars, and peanut butter cups to chocolate covered peanuts, Lily’s has your sweet-tooth cravings covered, but in a healthy way.
Design with Valentine Décor
There are many fun Valentine décor items that you can add to your bar cart, so let your creativity juices flow. To get the ball rolling, I like to start with an inspirational piece to wrap my decorating around.
For this bar cart design, my “inspirational pieces” were the chocolate covered strawberries and their dainty sprinkles, as well as the pink and red color scheme. To me, nothing shouts Valentine’s Day more than pinks and reds.
When I found the beautiful floral bouquet and the pink and gold gift boxes, I felt like the design in my head was starting to come together. You will get a sense of things falling into place once you find those staple pieces you want to wrap your decorations around.

Incorporate Gifts Bags and Boxes
Show the people at your party, that you love and care, by giving them sweet and thoughtful gifts. They don’t have to cost much. Remember the saying, “it’s the thought that counts?” When you use your heart for finding presents or gift favors, it will speak volumes to those you care for.
I used the bottom shelf of this bar cart design, as the perfect space for my girl’s little gift boxes, sitting pretty with the Lily’s chocolate bars waiting patiently to be eaten. You’re not gonna believe it when I say this, but the super cute pink and gold gift boxes came from, none other than, Dollar Tree. Can you say, cheap chic?!
The fun thing about having party favors at a gathering is that you can stage the bags or boxes as party décor by coordinating the colors with everything else. You can add cute monogram tags, fun tassels, or Valentine inspired stickers to the packages for a little “extra credit,” or extra love, shown to your guests.
Light the Candles
Candles and votives set the mood for elegance, warmth, thoughtfulness, and of course, love. You can use all shapes and sizes to suit your décor. Just keep in mind, it doesn’t take much to deliver a power packed punch on a smaller frame such as a bar cart. Sometimes a little goes a long way.
Plates, Napkins, and Goblets
If you are using your bar cart as a stage for food, it’s great to use beautiful plates, napkins, and water or wine glasses for serving the goodies. You can go with darling paper products or opt to use ceramics and glass. Either way, as long as you focus on making sure the colors and patterns coordinate well with your other decorations, you will have a homerun of a design.
No Bar Cart, Alternatives
If you don’t have a bar cart for your Valentine’s Day get-together, no worries. You can use a folding table, kitchen or dining table, or countertop to hold all of your décor and goodies. Using trays with tiers, and platters with pedestals, on these larger surface areas will help provide more height and dimension to your design.
Hosting a party on a Valentine’s Day bar cart can be super easy and oh-so-fun. Style it however you feel suits you and your guests, and enjoy your special gathering.

P.S. Note of Encouragement
Have you ever heard the saying, “love your neighbor as you love yourself?” Matthew 22:39. For so long I looked at this verse as putting others in front of myself.
Don’t get me wrong, it is wonderful to consider others, their feelings, and their needs. But, we have to always consider ourselves in the context of doing so.
What I seemed to be missing, was the fact that if I didn’t love MYSELF well, there was no way I could love my neighbor well. That meant, I had to sometimes say, “no” to people and opportunities, listen to my body, and make my needs count. This concept took a lot of learning and growing, especially from being so used to putting myself last.
I want to put this on your radar just to say, love YOU, and love YOU well enough so that you CAN love others well. Putting you first when you need to, is not a bad thing. It’s necessary in light of being able to love others.
And, one more note. In order to love yourself and other humans well, you have to receive that love from a Perfect Love. That Perfect Love who loves YOU completely and just as you are, is in the person of Jesus.
Happy Valentine’s Day, my friend! 🌹
