How to make a simple centerpiece for the spring and summer seasons can be as easy as one, two, three. Using supplies you already have at home (or a few new items from Homegoods), you can put it together in under a minute.
The sky’s the limit when it comes to simple centerpiece designs, with countless beautiful options to choose from. If you want to create one that exudes elegance and looks stunning with any design style, this easy 3-step arrangement is a go-to choice you’re sure to love. Let’s dive into the details.

To create this simple centerpiece, you’ll need just three décor pieces: a larger pot, a smaller pot with a plant, and a few faux floral stems, your color of choice.
1. Start with a Large Pot
Choose a pot that’s the right size for your table. Stand back to ensure it looks balanced and doesn’t overpower the space. Avoid pots that are too big or too small. When in doubt, opt for a larger piece. I’m a big fan of the motto, “Go big or go home!” The larger option is usually the better fit. FYI! 😉
Don’t you love it when a home décor piece just speaks to you while shopping? It’s like it jumps out and says, “Pick me, pick me!” That’s how I felt when I saw this beaded pot. LOL!
Check out Homegoods for some amazing pottery finds—it’s my favorite place for gorgeous yet affordable pieces. Or, if you have a large pot at home that you love, that’s an even better place to shop! 😉
2. Layer in a Smaller Pot with Greens
Next, place a smaller potted plant, either faux or real, inside the larger pot. Ensure there’s enough room to tuck floral blooms between the two containers to make the inner planter look fuller. TIP: Add a dish towel between the pots if you need a bit of extra height.
If your smaller pot doesn’t already have a plant, no worries! You can skip the inner pot and simply add faux or real eucalyptus stems to the larger one.
This smaller pot with faux eucalyptus greens that you see in the pictures is another favorite find from Homegoods.
3. Add the Blooms
Okay! I SO love the overall look of this simple centerpiece, but my favorite part is the flowers! 🌷 This is where you can easily change the look to match the season or special occasion.
With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I wanted a spring-like centerpiece for my Mother’s Day brunch tablescape. I choose faux floral stems in peach and light pink to match the color scheme. Here is a picture of the fully dressed tablescape, ready to celebrate. What do you think?
