Cowgirl Theme Party- Tablescape
When planning a preppy cowgirl party table, there are so many fun ideas to choose from! My tip is to start with an inspiration piece and build around it. For our table, I began with Rae Dunn paper plates and disco ball napkins, both from Home Goods. The bold black lettering on the plates inspired me to add a cow print table runner for a pop of personality.
To complete the look, I added disco balls from Hobby Lobby to match the napkins, bright pink cups from Dollar Tree to tie in with the cowgirl boot plates, and silver chargers to complement the disco balls.
Cowgirl Party Chow
Since Abby isn’t a big fan of pizza (I know, right! 😳), we decided to go with turkey and provolone sub sandwiches instead. For sides, we had an assortment of salty chips, tangy bean relish, homemade Caesar salad, fruit salad, and a splash of pink lemonade to top it all off.
Cowgirl Birthday Party Cake
I absolutely LOVE using Sweet Annie for my birthday cakes! Angela has a culinary background and is one of the most talented bakers I know. Her cakes are seriously the best, and she’s amazing at accommodating food allergies. How cute is this cowgirl birthday cake? She styled this sweet cake to coordinate with the party decor.

Cowgirl Birthday Party Supplies
When it comes to gathering supplies, I always recommend checking out your local stores to snag the best deals. But, after shopping around, I found some great options on Amazon that make it easy to get everything in one place!
Preppy Cowgirl Party Backdrop
If you’re looking to create a show-stopping focal point for your party, making a giant glitzy-glam backdrop is an epic cowgirl birthday decoration idea! The one we made for this party was so fun and super easy to put together.
It was my first time making one, but it turned out so great that I’m definitely going to use this idea for future big bashes. 🎉 I’ll be posting a blog soon with all the details, but here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll need.
- 13 Foam Boards- Walmart has amazing prices on these.
- Glue Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun
- Hot Glue Sticks
- White Duct Tape
- 2-3 Plastic Tablecloths- We found silver tablecloths at Dollar Tree and Five Below.
- Balloons for a Balloon Garland
Easy Birthday Backdrop How-To Guide
- Lay out the foam boards in a 3×3 grid, with three boards in each row.
- To secure them, hot glue one foam board over the middle section where four foam boards connect. Refer to the picture for clarification. Repeat this step three more times, so that all nine foam boards are held together.
- For extra stability, reinforce the connections by taping the four corners, and all of the connection points, with white duct tape.
- Flip the foam boards over. Starting at one end, cover one foam board with glue from a glue stick. Line up a corner of the tablecloth with the corner of the foam board, and scrunch the tablecloth to your liking as you press it onto the board. Continue applying glue and scrunching the tablecloth as you move across each foam board. Trim any excess tablecloth if needed.
- Repeat step 4 until all the foam boards are covered.
- Attach the balloon garland to the top and side of the backdrop using fishing line and white duct tape.
Cowgirl Party Activities and More Decorations
To kick things off, we started with a fun icebreaker: the “This or That” game. It’s a great way to get everyone laughing and help them feel more comfortable, especially with friends they might not know very well. You can ask silly questions to see their personalities shine through. Click here for some game questions!
The cowgirl party activities you choose often depend on the season. Since we were in the middle of those hot summer days—though, funny enough, the party day itself wasn’t too hot—we decided to go with a giant slip-n-slide as our main activity.
Slip-N-Slide Details
I picked up a 10ft x 100ft roll of clear plastic sheeting (6 mil thick) and secured it to the ground with tent pegs. It created the most epic slip-n-slide for the girls!
To make it extra slippery, I used tear-free baby soap, so no one’s eyes would sting if they got suds on their faces. I also added some large pool tubes I snagged at Walmart for extra cushion. The girls had a blast!
Preppy Party Favors to Match the Party Decor
For the party favors, you can make them extra adorable by having them coordinate with the party decor. We chose white gift bags, pink tissue paper, and black bows to flow with the preppy cowgirl party theme, and filled them with homemade Heath chocolate chip cookies (recipe coming soon), a claw clip, lip gloss, cowgirl tattoos, and an adorable bath loofa. The girls loved them! 💕
