It was a cozy, cold-outside, Sunday morning, that called for a family gathering around our kitchen table with some oh-so-delicious food. I thought, there was no better way to savor this moment than to make a simple breakfast charcuterie board with all of the fixings.
The busyness of life had been A LOT lately, so settling down and taking a quality-time “minute” to eat good food, enjoy the beautiful view of the yummies, and cherish each other’s company, was needed. Sometimes you just need permission to take a break from the hustle and bustle. May this inspire you to permit yourself to do the same.
I’m so excited to share with you pictures from our little family gathering, as well as breakfast charcuterie board ideas that will help you turn food into works of art. These boards are crowd-pleasers, that’s for sure! And, so fun to put together. Let’s dig into the details.

How to make a Breakfast Charcuterie Board
- Grab your favorite board and let the staging begin. (I used my grandma’s silver tea tray for ours.)
- Start with arranging the platters that will hold the hot foods, on the board.
- Wash and dry the fruit.
- Peel and cut the fruit so it’s easy for your guests to grab and nibble.
- Arrange the small fruits around the outside of your platter in small bunches. Feel free to break up the piles and have more than one cluster, of the same fruit, in different areas. Especially if there is a large amount of one type of fruit.
- Start to layer in the hot foods on your simple breakfast charcuterie board. We started with the bacon and sausage and then added in the pancakes and tater tots.
- Fill in any holes or spaces between food with extra fruit pieces. You can also use nuts or dried fruits as “filler” for those areas.
- Serve and enjoy!
Extra Breakfast Board Tips
- Cook the hot foods and place them in a warm oven so it stays warm and ready for staging.
- When serving hot food next to cold items, it’s best to arrange the board just before serving time. Have a “dress rehearsal” with your charcuterie board so you know exactly where you want to place everything.
- If there is a food that only some of your guests enjoy, or there are others who have food allergies, place those goodies in separate bowls off to the side, as I did with the scrambled eggs.
- Charcuterie boards offer an abundance of food in light of covering every square inch of the tray. If you don’t want any leftovers, opt to use a smaller grazing platter.
- Try to space out the different colored foods all around your board, in different sections, for a cohesive look.

P.S. A Note of Encouragement
Will you be like the good Samaritan? Recently, I was taking a walk through our neighborhood and spotted a sick animal on our neighbor’s front lawn, curled up in a ball. It was a cold, almost winter day and I knew it needed help. When I asked my neighbors about it, they said it was a raccoon that had been laying there all day.
My heart broke for this sweet baby and started calling around to find help. My sister gave me Joleen’s number, who rescues and rehabilitates wild animals. She lived about an hour away, but had a cage and was willing to help.
My predicament was how this sweetheart was going to get to Joleen. My neighbors were not able to make the drive. Joleen was calling around to find someone to come get her, but she couldn’t find anyone, either. The ball was in my court. It was late. It was inconvenient. But, I was reminded of what the good Samaritan would do.
To make a long story short, my family and I scooped up the raccoon, drove out to Howell, MI, and placed her in Joleen’s hands to help. The raccoon was not breathing well and probably had hypothermia. Lots of heat was required at this point. A heating pad and many blankets were put on this sweet one to help get her body temperature up.
I found out in the morning, that unfortunately, our raccoon did not make it. 😢 Even though it was so disappointing, I was content knowing that we tried to help.
I share this story to say that no matter the need of another person (or animal) big or small, if it comes across your path, do you take notice? Are you someone who does something or do you just let someone else handle the situation? Mind if I share a little perspective? What if there is no one else? What if you were placed there for a reason, and it was only you that could help?
As a gentle reminder, I encourage you to open up your heart today and see those around you. Notice when someone or something needs assistance, encouragement, or a helping hand, and offer yours. If you have a minute, why not be the good Samaritan who comes to help? I believe that God will bless your efforts!

I’ve only done cold cuts and veggies, but doing this for a brunch would be such a great idea especially if hosting. Thanks for inspiration!
