The Best Princess Party Invitations
In this day and age, people are opting to go the virtual route when sending out invitations It’s an easy option because you don’t have to shop, pay for, or hand deliver the requests. All you have to do is create a cute text or email, or download a free app where you can choose from the sweetest invitation designs.
Last summer, we received our first virtual graduation invitation and I thought, “What a great idea.” I decided to carry on the trend with our princess party invitations.
We used Evite for our announcements. They had so many cute designs to choose from. Click here to see the invitation that we selected.
Tip- No matter which direction you go for your invitations, virtual or cardstock, my main suggestion is to choose a design with a color scheme and style that complements your party’s decorations.
There are times when traditional paper cards work best. If you want to go in this direction for your invitations, here are some SUPER cute Amazon options.

A Disney-Like Princess Party Experience
Emmy was turning the big NINE so she and Momma decided to put on their dreaming caps and imagine what her birthday party would look like. We together agreed it should be a royal princess gathering where she and her friends would get all dressed up, have a tea party, and dance in the ballroom with Fairy Godmother.
We wanted to make her guests feel like they took a trip to Disney World. Since everything is to-the-moon amazing when it comes to what you see and experience at Magic Kingdom, we thought it would be fun to GO BIG with how we set this party up.
Princess Dresses and Makeovers
We asked for the princesses to bring their dresses to the celebration and get dressed up, one by one, here at Emmy’s castle. From there, the princesses would meet the REAL Fairy Godmother, enjoy beautiful makeovers, and be crowned with a sparking silver tiara. The finishing touch would be shimmery fairy dust sprinkles on their hair and cheeks before moving to the next phase of our Disney-like princess party.
Tea Party
Next, the ladies would gather in the royal dining hall for a very special tea party. Not many of the princesses preferred actual tea, so we decided to serve the most delicious hot cocoa along with dainty treats.
Ball Room
After that, Fairy Godmother announced the princess’s names and gifted them with a special wand that displayed cascading iridescent ribbons. One by one, each princess would gracefully walk into the ballroom to experience the royal balloon drop and lots of fun dancing.
Special Toast and Cinderella Birthday Cake
The girls then headed back to the dining hall for a special toast to the birthday girl, and to enjoy Emmy’s delectable princess birthday cake.
Presents and Cotton Candy
As the festivities started wrapping up, Princess Emmy and her princess friends gathered back in the ballroom to open her presents. Then, each princess was given freshly made pink vanilla-flavored cotton candy, dusted with a sprinkle of edible sparkles.

How do you Host a Princess Party?
When we were in the decision-making process for our princess party, we had to ask ourselves this very question. How do we want to host this princess party? In other words, what do we want the experience to be like?
There are many directions you can go when hosting a princess’s birthday. It can be a tea party, a traditional celebration with games and party food, or maybe something a little more unique. Go with what is best for your space, style, budget, and guests.
Another thing we had to ponder was if we wanted the party to have a general princess theme or focus on one particular princess. We decided to mix the two concepts and have both.
The design process and color scheme for the party all started to come together once we found Emmy’s dress. We visited an upscale boutique called, Pipsqueak Boutique, and found the most darling light pink, blue, and white tool gown for her. The dress colors were shouting Cinderella, so we used her as our model princess.
How-To Steps for Hosting a Princess Party
Once you decide on the design and color scheme, here are the basics you need to host the best princess party.
- Send out the invitations about a month ahead of time to give your guests ample time to put the party on their calendars.
- Confirm the guest list at least two weeks before the party so you can have the supplies ready for the best party ever.
- Decide, order, and create what you want to use for decorations. Ponder if you want to buy your supplies or DIY them to save money. We did a little of both. Some of the decorations such as the streamers, happy birthday signs, crowns, wrapping paper table runner, paper plates, and napkins were purchased at the store. The other embellishments such as the tassel garlands (made out of strips of coordinating sheet colors), and sheet “fringe” on the gift bags, were homemade.
- What do you want to do for activities? Create the cutest lineup of how you want your party to flow and what you want the kids to do.
- Create an order of events and go over the details with your assistants so that the party flows smoothly.
- Order your princess birthday cake a few weeks ahead of time. If you are in the metro Detroit area and are looking for the most amazing birthday cakes, feel free to connect with Sweetannnie_co. Click here to connect with her on Instagram. Angela is the one who made Emmy’s Cinderella birthday cake masterpiece. She can create just about ANYTHING!
- What royal treats do you want to serve at your gathering? Make sure you have a little more than enough in case some of the kiddos are going through another growth spurt. LOL! We served mini PBJ sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fruit, veggies, mini muffins, and hot chocolate. Plus cake and ice cream! Our royal guests also had a wand of homemade cotton candy in hand when they left the castle.
- Where do you want the opening of presents to happen? Set a dressed table off to the side so it can house the pretty gift bags and be a station where the gifts will be unwrapped.
- Put together the sweetest princess party favor bags for your guests to take home and reminisce about how much fun they had. We used our gift bags to hold a few chocolates, the girl’s crowns, their wands, and princess cards to write a dream in their hearts they want to see come true.

P.S. Word of Encouragement
I felt like the Lord put a word on my heart to share at Emmy’s sweet princess ball, and I would love to share it with you as well. You are beautiful no matter how dressed up, decked out, or put together you make yourself to be.
Being dressed up like a princess does not prove your value. You are valuable NO MATTER what you look like. You are PRICELESS! And, a gift to our world! Just be yourself and let your light shine for everyone to see.
