Affordable Homemade Gift Options for Adults
Monograms
I am obsessed with anything that is monogrammed. There’s just something special about putting a friend or family member’s initials on an present.
You can use stickers, stamps, poster board cut-outs, wooden or fabric letters, iron-on patches, and even engrave a fancy letter on an object. Like a cutting board! Many times, you can get these items at stores like Dollar Tree, Five Below, Joanns, or the dollar spot section at Target.
You can put a monogram on gift bags, on top of presents, on ornaments, and more. The ideas are endless when it comes to adding someone’s cherished letter to their gift. It’s a classy yet affordable way to go.
Just a quick note to keep in mind. It’s easier to use monogram embellishments when you have smaller gatherings. That way the cost stays low!
Clear Ornament Party Favors
The look of clear ornaments filled with the décor of the season is another very sweet idea for cheap chic party favors. Dollar Tree seems to carry them year after year.
One time I staged a Christmas tablescape for a charity event and added bright red glitter to these clear plastic ornaments. A black satin bow on top dressed them up to look fancy. Even though the creation of these cuties was super easy and cost effective, it didn’t take away from their elegance.
You can add so many things to the inside of “these guys” to compliment your party décor. For example, if your color scheme is gold, green, and silver, a fun idea would be to add faux snow, tiny bottle-brush Christmas trees, and silver and gold card confetti. Add a satin bow to the top, and VOILA! An expensive LOOKING, affordable party favor ornament!
Hot Chocolate Mementos
Are your creative juices flowing yet? Lol! Here is another one for you. Take clear cellophane gift bags, (you can find them at Dollar Tree for about 20 in a pack) pour two packets of hot cocoa mix inside, add some mini marshmallows and a few unwrapped mini candy canes; secure with a pretty ribbon at the top and you have another sweet addition to use as take-home gifts for your guests.
Or, find cute, matching coffee mugs and fill them with hot cocoa packets, marshmallows, and candy canes. Wrap the whole ensemble with cellophane and put a bow on it. Your guests will love!
Sweet Treats
You can bake your favorite cookies or brownies and place inside a cellophane wrappers. Then include a festive ribbon, and add another layer of fashion by placing them in beautiful PAPER gift bags.
Feel free to incorporate extra embellishments on your sweet treats such as sprinkles, drizzled white and dark chocolate, and candy crumbles to make them look more gourmet. Jam Jars
If you are a Betty Crocker in the kitchen, or even if you are a great recipe follower, you can put your culinary skills to work and make a bulk batch of your favorite jam. Scoop into mini mason jars, cover the lid with an elegant Christmas patterned fabric, and secure with a coordinating ribbon.
Essential Oil Sachets
These versatile, cute, and practical gift favors are a perfect fit for any party occasion. They can be placed in dresser drawers ( that’s where I keep mine), closets, shoes, luggage bags, and even tuck them inside baskets throughout the house for a delicious aroma.
Here you will find a super simple recipe for how to make the sachets, by Queen Bee of Honey Dos. All you really need is rice, your favorite essential oil, and organza bags.
Small Business Sourced Gifts
Sweet Annie Soaps
Having a fresh bar of soap, with a Christmas flare for the holidays, is always a festive way to go for gifts to pass along. You can wrap them in cute paper prints or cellphone gift bags and secure with a twine bow.
If you’d like to go this route, click here to connect with my sister, Angela. She will be so happy to help and offer very affordable and yummy fragranced soaps for your party. Wiz Wick Candles
I do have to admit, I’m a little biased towards the Wiz Wicks candles, only because they are AMAZING! And yes, my sister makes them. Hehe! Dianna knows how obsessed I am with her Coffee and Pine Tree candles.
I mean, if you like the aroma of Starbucks or fresh-cut pine trees, her candles will make your home smell just the same. Incredible! Another huge bonus this that they burn clean! You can connect with her on here, on her Instagram page, for her low bulk prices.
