Heart-Shaped Bacon in the Oven
Cooking your bacon in the oven is SUPER easy, and way less messy than cooking it in a frying pan. Plus, you can bake more bacon at a time in the oven- an extra bonus for you bacon-lovers out there! All you need to do is set your oven at 400° and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until your desired crispiness.
What You will Need 🤍
- Your Favorite Bacon (My family loves Coleman bacon from Costco)
- Cookie Sheet
- Parchment Paper
- Kitchen Scissors
- And an Oven 😋
How to Cook Heart-Shaped Bacon- Instructions
Method #1
There are two methods we like to use to create these adorable heart-shaped treats. One way is to cut each bacon strip in half and arrange the pieces to form a heart shape. I prefer twisting the top of each heart loop to give it a more ‘fluffy’ appearance. Can bacon we describe bacon as being fluffy? LOL! Ensure that the pieces overlap to stick together during baking, and firmly press the top and bottom pieces together to help them adhere.
Method #2
Another method is to leave each bacon slice whole, folding it in half (or not, depending on the length of your bacon), and then shaping the top into heart-shaped bumps (excluding the twists mentioned in the previous approach). Pinch together at the top where the hearts meet and also at the bottom point of the bacon hearts to maintain their shape while baking.
Arrange each heart on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes or until it reaches your desired level of crispiness. I prefer to rotate my bacon trays once, midway through the baking cycle, to ensure even baking.
After cooking, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before taking them off the parchment paper.
Fun Valentine Breakfast Ideas
Feel free to serve this savory treat along with other festive Valentine’s Day breakfast dishes, like pink-colored overnight French toast or a delightful French crêpe casserole dusted with powdered sugar. For heart-shaped dusting patterns, use heart-shaped cardboard cut-outs while sprinkling the powdered sugar. Bon appétit! 💘
