This post is all about no bake Oreo truffles with cream cheese.
Lessons I Learned When Making Oreo Truffles
My first go-around when making cream cheese Oreo balls was a wee bit rough compared to the second. I’m here to share with you my lessons learned so that your first attempt at making this amazing dessert will be spot-on.
- Use a food processor instead of a mallet or rolling pin to crunch up the Oreo cookies. It gives a better consistency with no lumps. I tried this approach my second time around and liked the way the Oreo balls turned out way better.
- Do not use semi-sweet chocolate chips. I did, and they did not have a very smooth consistency when dipping these nuggets inside. The chocolate was too thick and cooled off way too fast for me to be able to keep up with it. If you are a chocolate melting connoisseur, you probably know the ins and outs of chocolate melting. Hold fast to what you know. I just like to go the easiest route.
- Use candy chocolate instead. I just used the Kroger brand candy chocolate that you put in the microwave to melt. The consistency was perfect for dipping the frozen Oreo rounds and only needed to be reheated one time, for about 15 seconds.
- Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top immediately after dipping because the chocolate hardens that fast.
No Bake Oreo Truffles Ingredients
- 1 Family Size Package Oreo Cookies- (I used about 33 cookies for the dough)
- 8 Ounces Cream Cheese
- 1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
No Bake Oreo Truffles Instructions
Using a food processor, crush about 45 Oreos until they are a finely ground consistency. Place the Oreo powder in a mixing bowl. Save 1/8 cup – 1/4 cup of Oreo crumble for the topping. Soften the cream cheese in the microwave and then place it in the mixing bowl with the Oreo crumbs. Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Use a hand mixer and blend the ingredients well. Then use your hands to mix in any lingering crumbs.
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Use your hands and roll the Oreo mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on parchment paper to prevent sticking. Freeze the rounds in the freezer for 30 minutes to one hour.
Next, warm up the candy chocolate in the microwave until melted. Follow the instructions for melting on the back of the package. Use a fork and spoon to dip each of the Oreo truffle nuggets into the melted chocolate. Sprinkle with the Oreo crumbs as soon as you place them on the parchment paper while still wet.
The chocolate hardens within minutes so these treats can be placed on your cute platter super quickly. Enjoy these amazing bits of goodness and remember, don’t swallow your tongue. LOL!
Gluten Free Oreo Truffles
These little treats can easily be made gluten-free when you opt to use gluten-free Oreos. They even have gluten-free mint Oreos available. The mint flavor is my family’s favorite! It would taste equally amazing in this recipe! Yum!
