Adding Home Decor to My Niche

As many of you know, I’ve decided to expand my blog to include home decor and design inspiration, along with hosting and entertaining tips. 🎉 Redecorating has always been a heartbeat of mine. 🤍 Even as a little girl, I was the one asking to repaint, wallpaper, and completely redo my bedroom theme almost every year. My poor mother! 😆

Although I never went to school to be an interior designer, I believe some things just come naturally, like having an eye for matching patterns, colors, and textures. So, I wanted to share another HUGE passion with you all, and hopefully inspire you with amazing home decor ideas, as well as encouraging you to step out and pursue something you have always wanted to do. 🤍

Evan’s Bedroom Ideas

Melissa recently reached out to me, asking for some fresh bedroom ideas for her son, Evan, who is about to turn the big FIVE, and is ready for his nursery to be transformed into a big boy bedroom. 🎉 Evan loves gaming and everything that comes with it, so his mom wants his room to reflect his passion. 🎮

The mood board above is the design I put together to help spark Melissa’s creativity for styling Evan’s new gaming-themed bedroom. She wanted to keep his existing bed and dresser but add some extra gaming style elements to make his room perfect for this next stage of growing up.

Evan’s Big Boy Bedroom Layout

While searching for fun big boy bedroom finds, I came across this adorable comforter in shades of blue and gray that immediately gave me all the Pottery Barn vibes. I instantly fell in love with it! From there, I coordinated the desk chair, area rug, drapes, and artwork.

With his current bed and dresser in a dark walnut color, I wanted to brighten things up a bit. So, I chose a lighter wooden desk with the perfect warm undertone to complement the existing furniture. What do you think?

Evan has a HUGE book collection, so to maximize space, I thought hanging three large floating shelves above his dresser would be the perfect solution instead of a floor-standing bookshelf.

I love accenting with black when there are different wood tones present. I feel like this dark shade ties everything together so well. That’s why I chose the black desk lamp, wall decor, decorative pillows, and floating wood and metal shelves.

The six-piece gaming art collection can be hung above Evan’s bed on the wall opposite of the dresser (as shown in the design, above). The photos do not come with frames, but these would be perfect.

To add an extra layer of gaming style fun, I incorporated an LED light up floor length mirror that Melissa can hang on the smaller wall next to the closet; another space saving idea with a gaming-look and feel.
