1. Ideas for New Year’s Table Decorations-
Incorporate Elegant Shimmer and Shine
A classic New Year’s table setting comes with all the bells and whistles of elegant shimmer and shine in the design. You can incorporate this fabulous duo throughout your entire tablescape. Choosing a sparkly tablecloth and/or table runner, along with shiny metallic ornaments, globes, flatware, and more, will make your decorations elegant and ready to embrace the festivities.
2. Add the Festive Color Combo of Silver, Gold, and Black at Your New Year’s Table Setting
If there was ever a time to showcase the silver, gold, and black color scheme, it’s on your New Year’s table. Feel free to go ALL OUT with different shades, textures, and tones of this trio.
For our New Year’s Eve table decorations, we started with a black tablecloth as the base. This grounded all the razzle-dazzle of the tablescape, preventing it from being too overpowering. We chose a tone-on-tone tablecloth and runner and then layered in silver and gold with a touch of white on top.
You can add the details as you see fit. Have fun and experiment with patterns and layering of the shades. A good rule of thumb is to avoid placing two colors on top of each other. For instance, although our dinner and salad plates were both white, we inserted a black linen napkin in between to break up the similar colors.
3. Don’t Forget to Add a New Year’s Table Runner
Adding extra layers with different textures to your New Year’s table will bring a special touch of elegance. You can choose to go with a single shiny, matte, textured, or sparkly runner down the center of your table lengthwise, or use a couple of them (depending on the table’s length) cascading across the width. Using a table runner elevates the table’s appearance, all the while protecting it from potential food and drink spills.
You can also create a DIY table runner by cutting one from beautifully coordinating wrapping paper. Thicker and higher-quality wrapping papers will give your table a more high-end look.
4. Showcase Festive New Year’s Eve Centerpieces
When decorating a New Year’s tablescape, you have numerous fun ideas to choose from for your centerpiece. Whether it’s gorgeous white floral arrangements or clusters of hurricane vase candles, you can create a masterpiece that warms your heart and delights your guests.
For the centerpiece that we chose, we went with a gorgeously decorated yellow buttercream cake. It was equally as delicious as it was beautiful, thanks to Angela with Sweetannie_co! 🤍
As many of you know, we love using food as table decorations. Placing the dessert you plan to serve as the centerpiece will make your guests even more excited about the sweet treat they are about to indulge in.
When choosing a centerpiece, don’t forget about the spaces on each side of the focal point. Those are great places to fill with food or decorate with sweet embellishments. We chose mercury glass gazing balls because they mimic the look of the proverbial New Year’s ball drop.
5. Display Your Chic Tableware
For this festive time of celebrating new beginnings, feel free to bring out those gorgeous china pieces that may have been tucked away in your kitchen cabinets. And, don’t forget to place fancy water goblets or wine glasses, with a little something bubbly to drink (we prefer sparkling apple juice – hehe), and let the good times roll.
If you have gold cutlery, it will add an extra special touch of elegance. I don’t know why, but using gold knives and forks just seems to shout, “The holidays!” We found this beautiful flatware set for our New Year’s table at Walmart.
You can add another DIY touch to your holiday tablescape by printing “Happy New Year” labels for your water or bubbly bottles. Check out the link below to access festive drink labels that you can print as well.

6. New Year’s Eve Party Favor Ideas
Offering a few party favors and celebratory items on your New Year’s table will add extra décor to your design while helping your guests ring in the new year. We chose to place silver, gold, and black noise makers, along with Ferrero Rocher chocolates, inside coordinating boxes wrapped in metallic wrapping paper. You can find all of these items at Dollar Tree and save a LOT of money. 🎉
