Overnight French Toast Casserole Ingredients
- 1 Loaf Brioche Bread
- 3/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar, Packed
- 1/4 Cup Butter, Melted
- 8 Eggs, Beaten
- 1 Cup Oat Milk (you can also use whole milk)
- 2 Tablespoons Vanilla
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/8 Teaspoon Salt
- 1/3 Can Cherry Pie Filling, Pureed
- 1/4 Cup Chopped Pecans
- Powdered Sugar and Maple Syrup for Toppings
Overnight French Toast Bake Instructions
Preheat Oven to 350° and Bake for 45 Minutes, Total
Combine melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, oat milk, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla in a bowl and mix well. Next, cut the brioche bread slices into small cubes, about the size of ice cubes. Add the bread cubes to the bowl containing the wet ingredients. Mix well so that all of the bread is coated. Spray a baking/casserole dish with cooking oil and pour in your French toast mixture. Sprinkle the top with chopped pecans, and drizzle the cherry pie filling in a grid pattern over the top for a fun and festive look. Finally, sprinkle the top with extra cinnamon and sugar crystals for an additional burst of flavor and flair. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight so that all the flavors can meld together.
In the morning, while your oven is preheating to 350°F, take your overnight French toast bake out of the refrigerator and let it warm up a bit at room temperature until the oven reaches the correct temperature. Then, place it in the center of your oven, covered, and bake for 35 minutes. Next, remove the foil and continue baking for about 10 more minutes until it’s slightly golden brown. Remove it from the oven and let it rest/cool on your stovetop for about 20 minutes. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top, after the rest period, and serve it with your favorite maple syrup.
